What if the next SimCity was just around the corner? And what if it used the latest technology to bring your cities to life? This is how it might look. French company Enodo is behind this breathtaking video showing the potential of Crytek’s graphics engine CryENGINE 2 in city enviroments.
Make it happen EA.
Thats too much. I want to play the game not watch it lag cause of some high detail traffic. EA should make a new expansion pack for 4 instead of making 5 which is just gonna be 4 with all the essential mods like nam. Id rather have an expansion pack than a whole new game.
Holy! I agree with above sort of but you have to admit that looks really great! The graphics look way better than citiesXL! If the functional part of the game works, this could be great!
Looks great. It would be awesome if EA came out with a new version of Simcity
that is just a tech demo for a visulization company… not a preview of a game…
Uhm, guys, aren’t you getting a bit ahead of yourselves? I mean, is there anything here that even implies this is going to be a functional GAME? Because from what I see, if you take out the last bit with the explosion and firefrighters there’s nothing in the video that evne suuggests any sort of life in these cities. It looks more like a ciity simulator than a city simulation game.
If I watch the video I think: WHOLY CRAP HIGH DETAIL! But I also think, not even the best PC of today could handle this game. It is just to good, to extreme, to much. And actually it doesn’t really look like a city builder game, but more like an architectonial game. Still awesome music:D Though, I want a mod, that causes all the great Simcity 4 mods to be installed in 1 click, instead of needing to delete old files/download 20 props pack for 1 stupid building and so on. It would take less time and more fun.
Just to be clear here guys, this has nothing to do with the SimCity franchise, nor is it an actual game. It is just an example video of what can be achieved with CryENGINE 2.
thatßs not going to be a game, but a professional software for real cities planners :/
If you look in one part you see a french flag off of a building. No game has a flag off of a small building in a city builder game? Would be to bi est, most likely something for businesses.
i love sc4 graphics… just make a better gameplay, not OUTSTANDING NEXT GEN GRAPHIC game with suck game play, like societies (well, both gameplay and graphic sucked anyway…)
You guys… I saw this video on YouTube, and in the discription it says “what would happen it SimCity 5 were to be created”…
I dunno, they might be lying, and if they’re not, I hope it’s not like all the other SimCity failures following SimCity 4.
As much as I’d love to see a city builder utilize CryEngine 2, I’d be much happier for an actual SimCity sequel.
Would be awesome if they did the next Sim City with Cry Engine 2 (or 3 it would probably run better)
But unfortunately since they failed so hard on Societies its very unlikely they would do another one :[
This is just a demo of what the Crytek 2 engine can do, not a promise of a new game to come. Only problem with a Crytek engine in general = very high graphics requirements = a very limited market. SC4 was great because it runs on pretty low settings very smooth and you still get all the features.
pretty cool if this was official, you should check out IBM’s CityOne…
I for one think that nothing can beat sc4. And i do not trust any videos or trailers about anything since cities xl came out. I am not holding my breath…..
Wow a lot of negative comments here for such a nice video. As mentioned before, this is just a demonstration video and nothing else.
Just because a trailer of a game (which it isn’t in this case) has amazing graphics don’t mean it will be that way in the game, even at the highest setting. There are hundreds of trailers out there where the graphics in the videos don’t represent the graphics in game.
I would love to see a new and fresh city building game but I doubt it will be released by EA. These kind of games aren’t mainstream enough for them. If we see one it will more likely be by a indie company.
Anyway, great video! I sure enjoyed it
I think ea won’t make another simcity for a while, because they’re to focused on adding to the sims 3!
Boneheads! This is a walk through simulator for architectural projects not a game! Wish it was though
Well - It’s a demonstration of what CryEngine2 can accomplish; not any game or simulator for any project; just CryTek showing off what they can do [Now i’m in the mood for Crysis Warhead].
But it is a good video and if someone were to design a city building game around CryEngine2 it would be spectacular unless someone were to screw up the game play [EA].
I really don’t want to see EA continue to ruin a good franchise [Like The Sims, C&C and what they did with Societies]; but if they can make a ‘trailer’ look stunningly good to capture your attention [Like what CryTek did here] then follow up with awesome game play then adapt what multi-player CitiesXL had; the game would be awesome.
The future is out there; we just have to make the companies go get it or do it ourselfs, I’m not a 3D designer but a programmer…
If this is published, It Better have UDI!
theres no way it comes through PC, why? b’cause theres no such PC could handle it. it might comes for ps3 or xbox360 or other strong gaming engine dude.
i dont think the game will be as good as it looks
it might also be $1000000000000 dollars
@PARADISELOVER
Are you a fucking moron? Of Course it would be on a PC, don’t say anything if you have no idea what you’re talking about
My PC is about 100x Better than the 360, if you don’t know what you’re talking about then don’t talk. And the 360 would die from trying to run this.
It looks rather too complicated and it would sure require a monster PC to run it.
And personally I think that SC Societies sucked because EA cooperated with Tilted Mill instead of Maxis on this one… Maxis and Will Wright should be appreciated properly!
Sorry but I gotta stick with CitiesXL, The french can keep their over detailed knockoff
Ban-Kai: That was funny in so many ways.
dream on guys, it’s not gonna happen
Looks like Google Earth, complete with fuzzy, flat aerials and occasional 3D buildings.
It’s not a city game.
Damn, damn, damn, i always wanted a city building game in cry engine…..hope i will live to see it come to life.
I would pay 10000 dollars to play a game like that. That being said, that demo appears a tad bit ambitious for a city building game. If they scaled it back a bit, I am sure they could pull it off. With procedural graphics being where they are, and with things like google earth already out, something like this could be pulled off.
I don’t think it actually looks that good. I’m sure that nowadays they could pull off much better - even CitiesXL is better than this.
Having said that though I would certainly like a new SimCity game. It’s been too long. It’s really sad that EA have dumbed it down so much when the original Simcity games had large companies phoning up Will Wright for the simulation models he had created.
I hope CitiesXL continues after 2011 and tries once again to bring out a Planet Offer with no pay as you go scheme, better interactivity between cities, more sound effets and models to depict life in the city and most importantly: get some decent looking avatars!

Umm, are you people stupid? This is not a game!! It’s for a company that does 3D visualizations, not a friggin’ game.
To first, don’t make a biased opinion simply because your computer wouldn’t be able to handle high end graphics.
and to #34, they are a programming company that modified a 3d graphics engine to suit their needs, that same engine can be used to power games as well if that was someones objective.
Its been decads now, EA ignored SimCity.
I think they r just growing THE SIMS.
Yes it was beuitiful, yes stunning in its detail. But the whole point here is that its just a demo of the cry 2, and its capabilities. Yes system reqs would be high, but not undoable. the real question would be is there a company out there with the balls to pull it off succefully? And is there enough city sim fanatics to make it worth there while? I am not a programmer, but it would seem to me that this would be ALOT of coding, ie; alot of dollors. it all comes down to the bottom line. Is it a viable profit making expenditure for a company to invest in.
I don’t know.If its an Indie company they dont have that kind of scratch. That would be beyond betting the whole biz on a single game. even with a dedicated core of funatics buying.
But im sure of one thing, and thats if people came together with the right skills and determination, like I see on alot of SimCity and XL sites, a game even better then sc 4 and XL could be created! So come on lets do IT! in America if we cant find it, We build it!
Not interested! SC4 already struggles with my major cities, and that’s on a premium pc. Make a game not much more demanding than sc4, but optimize it to work well with todays generation of graphics cards (even the ones integrated in the new macbooks), at least 4 GB ram (meaning: make it an x64 game), and this generation of processors, multiple cores and all. As long as it works and the gameplay is good, I’ll be happy.
@ #38: what you have to realize about SC4 is the engine is extremely antique, descending from SC3000 (or earlier?). Notably, it does not support multiple cores, because they didn’t exist on most current desktop systems. The engine also doesn’t use many Windows optimizations, which has the side effect of making it run great in Linux/Wine but contributes to slowness on modern machines. A modern simulation and graphics engine would not come close to lagging on a modern system.
ewwffffffffdwDEQ35TTT545T4E
As we all know, graphics like this will never happen for SC altho the graphics are amazing, im happy with SC4 Graphics just perfect and work with no lag on my dell optiplex gx 260 running xp sp3 and 512mb Ram :D….
Bill wright & maxis should scrap spore or leave it for a while and make SC5 or an expansion pack again for SC4…. someone should make a petition SC & MAXIS
will**
To #24 SimCityMayor, Genius lol!. I for one agree with Paradiselover in that it would be divine with the XBOX 360 or PS3 engine. WAIT what am I saying screw playstation! Microsoft Could make a killing with this. The graphics wouldn’t be that great but hey a man can dream can I.
