I have been a Sim City fan for the past 12 years. Being a mom and quite busy I'm not a gamer by any sense of the word except when it comes to Sim City. It is my one escape from reality and I greatly anticipated SC5. What a disappointment Societies has turned out to be. They went backwards instead of forwards. Maybe a great game for kids who enjoy Zoo Tycoon and Sim Theme Park but not for avid Sim City fans. I hope they realize they've made a mistake giving this game the Sim City name and quickly get back on track with the next one.

Okay so it’s not as much fun and addictive as the previous simcities (and not really a simcity game to be honest), but i like this game. It’s got the same appeal that lego did as a child, there’s few ‘goals’ except building whateevr you want. Not a compelling game but fun to while away an afternoon now and then building a random society and having some fun. However, the slowdown for larger cities is very very annoying and hopefully is addressed to an extent in the updates and yes, it is directionless. But to me it’s open ended ’sandbox’ play gives me so much scope for creativity, although a more traditional simcity challenge alongside the sandbox would’ve been welcome. Overall not a stunner, but fun and certainly a must for city building fans once the price comes down and the mod community starts churning out stuff

Wil, I think you are completely right, it's a great game for using your imagination and not just build streets, zones and services. If you are looking for a SC5... it sucks, but I think it is a completely new game.

Whats with all these negative reveiws. Yeah, it might suck as a Sim City, but it opening the gaming world up to a great city building sub-genre! I think it looks great actaully. Giving tedious thing like pipes and power lines a miss. Who cares if some things are implausible? Can't you use your imagination?! The clock tower for example, boosts Authority. But, think about it. It could get you to work on time! USE YOUR TINY BRAINS!!
This game shouldn't be compared to Sim City games as such, but more of a window to new oppurtunities. I'm definately getting this game, so stuff all you pessamistic idealistic reveiwers!
x

P.S. We could do with an expansion! :D

Hit or Miss? Definitely a Mis-take.
I could have spent my money on something more constructive. I am very disappointed as I have been a Sim City or any Sims buyer for years.
